My Commitment to Sustainable & Regenerative Tourism

As part of my commitment to the VisitEngland PLANT Framework for regenerative tourism, I am dedicated to ensuring my photography walks leave a positive impact on the Liverpool City Region. As responsible photographers, we don't just want to capture the beauty of our city region; we want to preserve and respect it.

For every booking, I act on this commitment through the following practices:

Low-Impact Travel: My walks are entirely on foot and intentionally kept to small, intimate groups (maximum of 3 people). This prevents overcrowding in the urban areas we visit and keeps our physical footprint to an absolute minimum. On the very rare occasion, we need to visit an area of the city that is beyond reasonable walking distance, I always consider public transport options before the use of a private vehicle.
Respecting Communities & Privacy: We operate with strict respect for the local community. We focus our lenses on architecture, heritage, and landscapes, ensuring we respect public spaces and the privacy of residents and fellow visitors.
Supporting the Local Economy: I encourage my clients to support local independent businesses. I actively champion Liverpool's cultural heritage through my own photography guide books, helping to drive sustainable interest in our local visitor economy.
Digital & Paper-Free Operations: To minimize waste, all my booking confirmations, pre-walk questionnaires, post walk guides, and workshop communications are handled digitally.

Accessibility & Inclusivity

I believe that photography is for everyone. My walking tours are open, safe, and welcoming spaces for people of all backgrounds, cultures, faiths, genders, sexual orientations, and abilities.

All Skill Levels Welcome: As outlined on the walks information page, you do not need expensive gear or years of experience. Whether you use a professional camera or a smartphone, I aim to pass on my knowledge of photography.
Accessible and Custom Routes: I want everyone to experience Liverpool's beauty. If you use a wheelchair or have mobility needs, simply let me know in advance via the pre-walk questionnaire and I will happily design a fully accessible, wheelchair-friendly route tailored to you.
Small, Supportive Environment: My 1to1 or small group sizes create a relaxed, patient, and friendly space where nobody feels left behind or rushed.

Accessibility & Booking FAQs

Can I join a walk if I use a wheelchair or mobility aid?
Absolutely. While some of the routes I may use include historic cobbles or steps, I will happily design a completely flat, step-free route tailored to your needs. Please let me know via the pre-walk questionnaire or via email before the date of the walk so I can plan the perfect route.

How far do we walk, and at what speed?
We move at a very relaxed, gentle pace, stopping at various viewpoints throughout the city. Because our group size maximum is limited to 3 people, we can normally pause whenever you need a break. A standard walk lasts 3 or 6 hours, but the distance and duration can be shortened to suit you if required. There are obviously times, including when we first meet up, when we will be stood still for a period of time in order to discuss settings and composition etc..

Are there toilets along the route?
Yes. When I map out your specific walk (especially a custom or accessible route), wherever possible, I will intentionally choose paths that pass public buildings, museums, or cafes with accessible toilet facilities.

Do I need a professional camera?
Not at all. My walks are open to everyone, whether you are using a professional DSLR, mirrorless camera, a compact camera, or a smartphone. In addition to settings, I focus on composition, light, and helping you enjoy photography.

Can I bring a carer with me?
Yes, essential carers are always welcome to join you on the walk. Please email me prior to booking for more information.
